Email Accuracy & Bounce Rates

Lensmor retrieves email addresses from verified third-party data providers. This article explains how email verification works, what bounce rates to expect, and how to handle bounces.
How Emails Are Verified
When you reveal a contact's email, Lensmor queries our data partners (including People Data Labs and Proxycurl) in real time. These providers maintain databases of verified emails collected through compliant, publicly available sources.
Verification includes:
- Syntax check — the address is correctly formatted
- Domain check — the domain exists and has valid MX records
- Mailbox check — the specific mailbox is confirmed to exist (where technically possible)
Emails that fail verification are not returned. You are not charged if no verified email is found for a contact.
Expected Accuracy
Across our provider network, the majority of revealed emails are deliverable at the time of retrieval. However, no email database is perfectly current:
- People change jobs and their company email becomes invalid
- Companies rebrand or restructure, changing email formats
- Some domains block mailbox verification, meaning we confirm domain-level existence but not the specific inbox
What this means in practice: You should expect a higher deliverability rate than an unverified scraped list, but a small percentage of bounces is normal and expected.
Handling Bounces
If you experience bounces after exporting and sending outreach:
- Hard bounces (invalid address / domain doesn't exist): The contact has likely changed jobs or the company email is no longer active. Remove from future sends and check their LinkedIn for an updated role.
- Soft bounces (mailbox temporarily unavailable): Retry after 24–48 hours. Persistent soft bounces after multiple attempts should be treated as invalid.
- Best practice:
- Use an email validation tool (e.g., ZeroBounce, NeverBounce) on your export before large sends
- Send in small batches first to gauge deliverability before scaling
- Maintain your sending domain's reputation by removing hard bounces promptly
Lensmor's Responsibility
Lensmor delivers the email as verified at the time of reveal. We do not guarantee ongoing deliverability as contact information naturally changes over time. Credits are consumed at the point of reveal — refunds are not provided for emails that become invalid after retrieval.

No Email Found
If Lensmor cannot find a verified email for a contact, the result will show "Email not available" and no Credit is deducted. This happens when:
- The contact is not in our providers' databases
- The contact's email cannot be verified
In these cases, LinkedIn outreach is typically the best alternative path.
FAQ
Q: Am I charged for an email that is not found? No. Credits are only deducted when a verified email is successfully returned.
Q: Should I still run my own email validation before sending?Yes. For large campaigns, running your export through your preferred validation tool is still a good practice to protect deliverability and sender reputation.
Q: Why can a previously valid email bounce later?Because jobs, domains, and mailbox settings change over time. Lensmor verifies the email at the time of reveal, but cannot guarantee that it will remain valid indefinitely.
